The Practice places emphasis on reliability and low maintenance requirements in fire protection design - selecting the best engineering techniques and equipment available, together with practical experience of business and construction in projects gained during many years, to achieve optimal protection of owners' property.<\/span><\/p>\n

STATE-OF-THE-ART APPROACH AND TECHNIQUES<\/span><\/h5>\n

Since its inception the Practice has been subscribing to various fire protection associations in SA, the UK and USA, as well as other international journals and has a library of over 3700 items, which is sizeable for this speciality.<\/span><\/p>\n

In order to keep abreast of the latest international developments and technology, annual visits are made by staff to international conferences and exhibitions, and regular communications are maintained with world leaders in the fire safety fields.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the main results of these connections has been the application of computer-aided fire modelling for complex problems; such as atrium buildings, shopping malls, hotels, high rise structures, warehouses and high hazard industrial plants. This performance-based approach aims at achieving the lowest cost of fire protection without lowering safety standards.<\/span><\/p>\n

QUALITY ASSURANCE<\/span><\/h5>\n

  • Protection Projects has a small test laboratory, where fire protection equipment is regularly tested for reliability and conformance with standards.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • This laboratory also tests fire pump controllers and annunciators in the country requiring independent third party approval.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Protection Projects also has a range of test equipment for site testing of virtually every type of fire protection system. The practice specialises in well developed methodologies for quality monitoring and control of site installation work.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
